An Excerpt From “My Mother’s Love Story”
It is a rare day if, by the time my head hits the pillow for sleep, I have not been in contact with my mother. We talk often, and we talk much. She knows me better than anyone else–this is wildly convenient when I need to get something off my chest, and wildly frustrating when I wish I could keep her in the dark. She just always knows. She has secret powers. Can look at a picture of two people she’s never met and immediately ascertain any sentimental connection and/or emotionally charged tension which exists between them. Secret. Powers. We are close, in the way that I can’t describe how close, without saying we are two of the same.
It came as a surprise to me then, when I realized, I don’t know a thing about my mother’s life.

An Excerpt From “Scarlet Clouds”
“Meeting you was the best of all sins. Over a sunny night, our hands avidly explored the unknown, anxiously trembling, nervously touching the edge of our souls. You asked if I had ever met the Moon, and I answered that I had, perhaps in a dream sprinkled with many silences.”
Tomorrow we will announce our 1st place winner!!
